Obscenity

The picture on the left was done in France, during the World War I. It shows a French Officer dying during an assault to a German trench.
If you didn’t knew this photograph, I believe you know many and many others showing people dying at war. They can be seen in any book on history of photography, at the front page of news papers and, some times, on TV.
The picture on the right is a painting. It’s name is “The beginning of the world”, painted in 1886 by Gustave Courbet, France, and it can be see at D’Orsay Museum, in Paris. As well as in books about art and in some web-sites.

I call the photograph on the left an “Obscenity”. People shouldn’t die at the hands of men. And never this way!
Portuguese police, 3 policemen, judged the painting “pornography”, since it was the cover of a book about painting. And they seized all those books on that open market, in Braga, Portugal. Today, 2009-02-23.

Something is very wrong!
I don’t know if it’s me or the law!
